The University of Georgia Grounds Department is seeking qualified Tree Consultant Firms to perform a comprehensive tree inventory and canopy assessment across the university’s main campus in Athens, Georgia. The project aims to update the existing tree records, which are over a decade old, to ensure accurate data for approximately 10,000 trees within a 770-acre area. The selected firm will provide a detailed GIS database compatible with ArcGIS and conduct a Tree Canopy Assessment to evaluate canopy coverage, supporting the university’s commitment to maintaining a safe, sustainable, and well-managed landscape environment. The procurement process follows a two-stage qualification-based selection, beginning with a Request for Qualifications (RFQ), where firms submit their credentials by May 2, 2024. Qualified firms will then be invited to submit proposals, participate in a mandatory site visit, and undergo interviews. The process culminates in the selection of a final contractor, after which the university will finalize the contract. The project emphasizes thorough evaluation of technical expertise and experience, with the goal of ensuring a comprehensive and up-to-date tree inventory that supports campus safety and environmental stewardship.
