Full Description

The University of Alberta requires existing Sectionalizer switchgear equipment currently located within the North Power Plant to be upgraded, since it is understood that the existing equipment is past it’s expected life time and is critical to many functions throughout the University Campus. Therefore, a new electrical room to place two new Sectionalizer switchgear equipment has been designated by the University. The designated Room B-52 in the basement of the South Academic Building (SAB) requires adjustments to be converted into an electrical room and to place the equipment within the room. Connections from the switchgear to the electrical services outside of this room are not part of this project scope and are understood to be completed under a different project scope. Several cores have been cut previously under a different scope through the north retaining to allow for the future connections. Minor patching, repair, and refinishing is expected at new and altered M&E services and if existing work is accidentally damaged by the construction or equipment movement. The repair may include walls and ceilings. Asbestos containing materials have NOT been identified in Fireproofing, duct mastic, & pipe fittings. The Hazmat Asbestos Bulk Sampling report is appended to Section 00 31 00 Available Information Documents. See Construction Documents provided with this RFP for further information
