US Navy Virginia Class Submarine EDG Global Repair Services

The Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division has awarded a sole source Basic Ordering Agreement to Caterpillar, Inc. for Global Repair Services concerning the US Navy Virginia Class Emergency Diesel Generator. This procurement covers a comprehensive scope of work including shipboard and in-shop maintenance, repair efforts, and the provision of emergent technical support for diesel engines and their associated support systems on Virginia Class Submarines. Under the authority of FAR 6.302 and 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(1), Caterpillar, Inc. was identified as the only responsible source capable of meeting the Navy's specific requirements. Consequently, the government intends to solicit and negotiate all resulting task orders and modifications exclusively with this single source to ensure the continued operational readiness of the submarine fleet's emergency power systems.
