Project proposes critical preservation repairs and fire resiliency upgrades to the Vallejo Home Complex at Sonoma State Historic Park to protect the collections within the buildings as well as protect the buildings themselves. Work will consist of the following: • At the Vallejo Home: Exterior Preservation Repairs o Assess and document woodpecker damage; o Repair historic wood and replace failed elements with in-kind materials; o Restore carved eave trim, siding, porches, and dormers; and o Install historically appropriate bird-deterrent measures. • At the Hermitage and Delirio Buildings: Roof Replacement and Fire Hardening o Remove failing historic wood shingles; o Repair damaged sheathing and framing; o Install Class A fire-resistant roofing compatible with the historic character; and o Install ember-resistant vents, fire-resistant underlayment, seal eaves for wildfire mitigation, and improve moisture and pest protection. Envelope protection measures, including sealing penetrations, flashing upgrades, drainage corrections, and strengthening weatherproofing, will occur across all structures.
