Van Buren Blvd. Resurfacing Project

The County of Riverside Transportation Department is undertaking the resurfacing of approximately one mile of Van Buren Blvd. between Capella Street and Washington Street in the Woodcrest Community, with work confined strictly to the existing roadway footprint and no additional right-of-way required. The project involves cold planing the existing asphalt concrete to a depth of 0.30 feet and overlaying it with 0.40 feet of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), along with comprehensive reconstruction of curb and gutter systems, ADA-compliant curb ramps, concrete bus pads, and approximately 4,000 square feet of new sidewalks. Additional elements include adjustments and relocations of utility covers, removal and installation of signage, restriping of the roadway with pavement markers and reflectors, rehabilitation of overside drainage facilities and catch basins, reconstruction of driveways, and upgrading existing traffic signals at King Avenue to camera detection systems. Vegetation and tree removal will also occur as necessary. The County will manage inspection and acceptance on-site, ensuring compliance with the Western Riverside Multi-Species Habitat Conservation Plan (WRMSHCP), including adherence to Best Management Practices in Appendix C, and compliance with CEQA Section 15301(c) for existing facility improvements. Construction activities are subject to seasonal restrictions under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, prohibiting ground-disturbing work from March 1 through July 31 annually.
