Versette Automated Liquid Handler 650-MSIA

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Environmental Health plan to award a sole source firm-fixed price contract to Fisher Scientific Company, LLC 4500 Turnberry Drive, Hanover Park, IL 60133-5491 for one Versette Automated Liquid Handler 650-MSIA, for use in parathyroid hormone (PTH) reference method in support of the activities for the CDC'S Clinical Standardization Programs and the Division of Laboratory Sciences Service Laboratory. Our laboratory is developing an UHPLC-HRMS reference method for the accurate measurement of the intact parathyroid molecule and its related peptides from human serum. However, the limiting factor for the practicality of this method is the throughput from the sample preparation procedure. We are currently using two manual 12- channel micropipettes that incorporate Mass Spectrometric Immunoassay (MSIA) tips. However, this limits the method to only 24 samples per day. There is a substantial need to increase the throughput of this method and allow for faster sample analysis. The Thermo Scientific Versette Automated Liquid Handler is designed for higher throughput analysis using MSIA DART pipette tips that are embedded with custom antibodies. The liquid handler allows for the binding, washing, and elution of parathyroid hormone in serum from the MSIA DART tips. The pipetting range of 0.5- 300 ?L is suitable for our study as the volumes needed do not exceed 150 ?L. The Versette Automated Liquid Handler can accommodate 96 and 384-channel pipetting heads. The liquid handling system is operational via an offline software, which allows for automated methods to be generated for the PTH immunocapture portion of the reference measurement procedure. The throughput of the method can be improved by 4 times through the use of this liquid handling system. The statutory authority for this sole source acquisition is U.S.C. 2304 (c) (1) in accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1 only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy the agency requirements. A determination by the government not to compete the proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
