Vineyard South Mining Use Permit

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has granted Streambed Alteration Agreement SAC-64369-R2 to Granite Construction Company for the Vineyard South Mine project. This agreement permits surface mining on a 38.65-acre parcel, specifically targeting 25.77 acres for extraction while leaving the remaining land undisturbed. Once mining operations conclude, the land will be transitioned into open space for non-prime agriculture or dryland grazing. The project is designed to avoid environmental disruption by ensuring no in-water work occurs and restricting construction to periods when existing drainages are dry. There will be no activity within the Elder Creek channel and no removal of riparian trees. The project is coordinated through the Sacramento County agency and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
