The VSD Sewer Siphon Replacement Project involves upgrading an existing 12-inch sewer siphon that crosses beneath the Coachella Valley Stormwater Channel, which was exposed during a storm in February 2019. The current siphon runs from Westward Ho Drive west of the channel to Indio Water Authority's Well Site 4A east of the channel. The project aims to replace this with a safer, deeper, multi-barrel siphon pipeline approximately 1,125 linear feet in length, installed using trenchless horizontal directional drilling (HDD) technology. The new pipeline will include 8-inch and 10-inch sewer lines, and the work will also encompass retrofitting an existing sewer manhole and constructing five additional sewer manholes to ensure proper system integration and durability. The contract, issued by the Valley Sanitary District in California, has a project size estimated between two to five million dollars. It emphasizes modern trenchless installation methods to minimize surface disruption and improve safety. The project’s primary objectives are to enhance the structural integrity of the sewer crossing, prevent future exposure or failure during storm events, and ensure reliable sewer service in the area. Interested contractors are encouraged to respond by October 24, 2024, with Adrian Contreras serving as the primary contact for inquiries. More details about the project can be accessed through the provided procurement portal link.

The goal of this project is to replace an existing 12-inch sewer siphon crossing underneath the Coachella Valley Stormwater Channel that was exposed during a storm event in February of 2019 with a safer and deeper multi-barrel siphon sewer pipeline. The current sewer siphon extends under the stormwater channel from Westward Ho Drive to the west of the channel to Indio Water Authority's Well Site 4A to the east of the channel. Using the trenchless horizontal directional drilling (HDD) method, a new sewer siphon that extends approximately 1,125 linear feet will be installed adjacent to the existing one and will be tied in to the existing sewer in the vicinity. Work will include the installation of new 8-inch and 10-inch sewer and related facilities, retrofitting one existing sewer manhole, and adding five new sewer manholes.
