Webb Tract Wetland Restoration Project

The Webb Tract Wetland Restoration Project aims to restore approximately 2,320 acres of wetland habitat within the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta in Contra Costa County, California, including 1,900 acres of emergent wetland, 110 acres of open water, and 310 acres of transitional seasonal wetland. The project will construct new wetland management units featuring berms, weir boxes, flap gates, and culverts, while leveraging existing siphons for water supply and District Canals for drainage. Primary ecological objectives include enhancing foraging, refugia, and loafing habitat for native species such as the federally-listed giant garter snake, western pond turtle, tricolored blackbird, and sandhill crane, with particular emphasis on increasing dense vegetation like cattails and tules critical for the blackbird.
