Leon County is seeking a qualified contractor to provide comprehensive weed and pest control services across various public spaces managed by the Parks and Recreation Department, with a primary emphasis on athletic facilities and practice fields. The scope includes maintaining healthy, safe, and visually appealing parks, recreational facilities, open spaces, trails, and landscaped areas within the county. The contract allows for flexibility, enabling the County to negotiate additional services or modify the list of facilities as needed, including adding or removing locations not initially specified. Bidders are required to complete a detailed bid pricing sheet divided into four categories—turf areas, fire ant control, archery course, and athletic fields—and must enter costs in all designated fields to be considered responsive. The contract, with a potential value ranging from $50,000 to $200,000, is set for an initial one-year term starting November 1, 2025, with options for up to four renewal years, and will follow Florida’s Local Government Prompt Payment Act for payment procedures. The agreement emphasizes competitive bidding, with Leon County reserving the right to accept or reject bids based on the best interest of the county. The contract includes provisions for insurance, dispute resolution, and compliance with tax exemption status, establishing the contractor as an independent entity responsible for providing the specified pest and weed control services. The procurement process involves submission of bid response cover sheets, which detail the submitting firm’s information and authorized representatives. The contract documentation also incorporates related agreements for services such as ice machine supply and maintenance, indicating the county’s broader approach to service contracts that prioritize clear terms, renewal options, and adherence to local government procurement standards. Overall, the contract aims to ensure the ongoing maintenance of safe, attractive, and well-managed public spaces throughout Leon County through a structured, competitive, and flexible procurement process.
