The contract involves a comprehensive project to demolish an existing well, specifically Well No. 8, and to construct, develop, test, and equip a new well, identified as Well No. 10. The scope includes the removal of structures such as masonry block walls and storm drains, as well as salvaging specific components like an angle valve. The well drilling process entails creating a borehole with a minimum diameter of 42 inches to a depth of approximately 50 feet, installing conductor casing, and drilling an additional borehole up to 1050 feet deep with a maximum diameter of 18 inches. The work also involves conducting geophysical surveys, reaming the pilot hole, installing well casing, gravel feed tubes, and seals, and developing the well through mechanical and chemical methods. Final testing includes analyzing water samples for compliance with Title 22 standards and performing various surveys and analyses to ensure proper well functionality. The well equipping phase covers installing a deep well turbine pump, motor, and associated mechanical piping, valves, and control equipment, along with soundproofing measures such as acoustical enclosures. Electrical and instrumentation systems, an emergency generator, and site improvements—such as constructing a CMU wall, gates, planting trees, and replacing pavement—are also included. The project aims to enhance water infrastructure at the site, with detailed specifications available in the Contract Documents. The project is managed by the City of Signal Hill, California, with a solicitation posted in August 2020 and a response deadline in October 2020.
