Full Description

The City of Tempe (“City”) is seeking proposals from highly qualified and experience mental health providers to provide a wellness program for all Tempe Police Department (“TPD”) employees. The preference is for the wellness program to be provided at no cost to the City. The program shall consist of providing all TPD employees one (1) wellness check each, every six (6) months. The purpose of the wellness checks is to normalize mental health services for TPD employees by providing employees opportunities to discuss coping strategies and solutions to deal with the myriad of stressors of being a first responder. It is important that there is not an evaluative component to the mental health wellness checks as these visits are not Fitness for Duty examinations. The wellness checkups are expected to significantly enhance officers’ mental health, reducing stress and burnout, while simultaneously improving job performance and resilience within the force. TPD has approximately 511 employees to be scheduled during the first year of the contract.
