The New York State Department of Health has awarded a contract to the Town of Ticonderoga to implement a water system compliance project from January 1, 2024, through June 30, 2027. This initiative is funded by a federal grant allocated under the Safe Drinking Water Act, specifically through the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act and the America’s Water Infrastructure Act, which support underserved, small, and disadvantaged communities in meeting drinking water standards. The federal funding for this project, totaling $1,325,000 for Fiscal Year 2021, has been approved by the USEPA to assist the town in achieving compliance with the Surface Water Treatment Rules (SWTR). The project aims to improve the town’s water infrastructure and ensure safe drinking water for its residents. Due to the specific circumstances and the unique qualifications of the selected entity, a competitive bidding process was deemed impractical, leading to a sole-source award to the Town of Ticonderoga. This exemption from advertising was granted because of the specialized nature of the project and the town’s eligibility for federal funding. The contract is set to end on June 30, 2027, with the initial solicitation posted on November 25, 2024, and a response deadline of December 3, 2024. The project is located within Essex County, New York, and falls under the NAICS code 812990, indicating its focus on miscellaneous support services.
