The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (District) is proposing to replace two existing benches at the junction of the Anniversary Trail and the Herb Grench Trail in the Windy Hill Open Space Preserve. One of the existing benches is currently dedicated to Victor Zenoff, and one of the new benches would remain dedicated to Mr. Zenoff. The other new bench would be dedicated to Jean Rusmore: an influential figure in shaping the District and protecting San Francisco Bay Area public lands. The replacement and dedication of the benches are consistent with the District’s Board Policy 5.01 Site Naming, Gift and Special Recognition. The benches would be designed with standard recycled composite plastic/wood lumber that is long-lasting, durable, environmentally friendly, and low maintenance. Minor brush clearing and grading is proposed at the project site, which is currently disturbed. Base-rock would be installed to level the pad, and support posts would be embedded in concrete to stabilize the benches. Bronze plaques, 2 x 6 inches in size, would also be installed on the benches.
