Wireless Permit No. 25-003, Coastal Development Permit No. 25-095, and Categorical Exemption No. 25-184

The City of Malibu has issued Wireless Permit No. 25-003, Coastal Development Permit No. 25-095, and Categorical Exemption No. 25-184 for the modification of an existing T-Mobile wireless facility. The project is located at 23816.5 Malibu Crest Drive on a Southern California Edison wood utility pole, identified as SCE Pole ID No. 4553030. The scope of work involves removing one panel antenna, one mounting arm, and one equipment shroud to install a new side-mounted antenna approximately eight inches in diameter, along with cabling, an electrical shutoff switch, and associated equipment. Additionally, existing radio equipment within the underground equipment vault will be replaced in-kind with a new radio unit. All improvements are restricted to the existing pole and underground vault, with no changes to the height, dimensions, or footprint of the 43-foot pole. The project explicitly prohibits any excavation, trenching, or the installation of new ground-mounted equipment. The project is claimed exempt under CEQA Guidelines Sections 15301(e) and 15303(e), with no significant environmental impacts anticipated. In addition to the permits issued by the City of Malibu, the applicant must obtain the necessary permits from Southern California Edison for the use of the utility pole.
