The U.S. Department of Commerce, through NOAA and the National Weather Service, is planning to procure 45 units of the Strut & Probe Assembly, a specialized component identified by part number 00872-0277-0001 and NSN 6660-01-426-3804. This part, originally manufactured by Rosemount Engineering Inc. (now Campbell Scientific), is critical for detecting freezing rain at major U.S. airports, supporting safe commercial and military air traffic operations in icing conditions. Campbell Scientific holds exclusive manufacturing and distribution rights to this unique component, and any alternative sourcing would require costly requalification by the Government, with no guarantee of cost savings. The part will be delivered to the National Logistics Support Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The procurement will follow simplified acquisition procedures under FAR Part 13, and while no formal solicitation is currently available, interested parties may submit offers within five calendar days from the notice's publication. The Government reserves the right to either solicit competitive bids or directly issue an order to Campbell Scientific, based on responses received. All interested contractors need to be registered with the Central Contractor Registry (CCR) and have a Dun & Bradstreet number. The designated point of contact for this acquisition is Contract Specialist Karen L. Christian, based in Norfolk, Virginia. This procurement falls under NAICS code 335999, covering miscellaneous electrical equipment manufacturing.
