Wisk Temporary Final Approach and Takeoff (FATO) Area

The City of Hollister is overseeing the Wisk Temporary Final Approach and Takeoff (FATO) Area project at the Hollister Municipal Airport in California. This initiative involves relocating Wisk Aero's surrogate helicopter operations to a new site south of Runway 31 End to facilitate critical flight testing. The project scope includes the construction of a 10,000 square foot temporary FATO pad and a 21,400 square foot temporary towing surface. Construction is scheduled to begin on August 1, 2026, with an estimated three-month duration ending in October 2026. The primary objective of this project is to collect vital aircraft flight test data to inform the Federal Aviation Administration's Future Vertical Lift Infrastructure Advisory Circular and the eVTOL and Advanced Air Mobility Integration Pilot Program. By integrating aircraft with ground systems and demonstrating vertiport requirements, the project aims to accelerate the development of revised standards and policies for the wider advanced air mobility community. The project has been granted a Notice of Exemption under the California Environmental Quality Act, citing minimal environmental impact.
