The 802nd Contracting Squadron plans to award a sole-source purchase order to Woodway for four Desmo Elite treadmills and two Woodway Curve treadmills. The Desmo Elite models feature a patented 22"x68" slat belt running surface, speeds up to 12.5 MPH, elevations up to 15%, and integrated 17-inch HD touch screen TVs with internet connectivity and workout tracking capabilities. The Curve treadmills are non-motorized, featuring a curved surface design that requires no electricity and offers unlimited maximum speed, with battery-operated LED displays. This procurement will be conducted under simplified acquisition procedures and is justified as a sole-source purchase because Woodway is the only manufacturer meeting the Air Force's stringent Golden Eagle Standards for fitness equipment, which supports the requirements for the AETC 5 Star Fitness and Sports Recognition program. Woodway equipment is distinguished by its unique patented running surface with exceptional durability—capable of enduring up to 200,000 miles without belt replacement or maintenance—and significantly reduced operating costs due to its energy-efficient design. The contract is subject to standard Federal Acquisition Regulation clauses and other DoD-specific provisions, and the anticipated award date is September 30, 2010. This purchase is contingent on funding availability and is described as a fallout requirement, with the government reserving discretion over whether to conduct a competitive procurement based on received responses. The Woodway equipment is preferred due to its proven maintenance support, product durability, and operational longevity, which are unmatched by other manufacturers. Contact points for this procurement are provided, and the government intends to evaluate and award this contract without discussions or solicitation of competitive offers, emphasizing compliance with FAR regulatory requirements and ensuring alignment with the Air Force’s operational and fitness standards for high-use facilities.
