Y--8(a) Sole Source Contract for Rental of Construction Equipment and Operators for Disposal Area Maintenance Associated Activities for the Mobile District in Alabama

This contract action was accomplished using other than competitive procedures because a statute exists that expressly authorizes or requires that the acquisition be made from a specific source or through another agency (FAR 6.302-5); specifically, Sole source awards under the 8(a) Program. Per FAR 6.302-5 a J&A is not required for this award. The general work required consists of the maintenance, construction and rehabilitation of dredge disposal sites. Work will consist of raising dikes around existing areas, excavation and haul out of dried dredge material, construction of new areas, leveling and stacking of existing materials, construction/installing weirs and outfall piping, maintenance or construction of dewatering ditches associated with these disposal areas, and mowing, fertilizing and cutting back encroaching vegetation and overhanging limbs along the dikes. Contructing earthen berms in coastal waters, transporting material to coastal waters for marsh construction, re-establishing drain-ways and small channels by snagging and dredging and transporting dredged material to upland disposal areas.
