Additional work includes relocating rooftop mechanical ventilators, air conditioning, and electrical systems, installing new metal siding over existing transite panels on select buildings, and providing new access ladders and scuttles. The retrofit metal roofing design must be structurally certified by a licensed Alabama engineer. The contract is estimated between $1 million and $5 million, with a required completion timeline of 365 calendar days from the notice to proceed. Bids must be requested in writing, including full company information, and requests must be submitted at least 10 days before the bid opening. Safety performance is a critical factor in award decisions, requiring the prime contractor to have an Experience Modification Rating (EMR) of 1.0 or less and subcontractors no more than 1.1. All technical and contractual inquiries must be submitted in writing, as telephone questions are not accepted. The project’s drawings and further details will be available through designated contact personnel. Contract award depends on funding availability, and all responsible bidders will be considered.
