Yermo Freepoint Ecosystems

The Yermo Freepoint Ecosystems project, identified as PROJ-2024-00168, is a development by Freepoint Eco-Systems Yermo Supply LLC in San Bernardino County, California. The project involves the establishment of a plastics sorting and processing recycling facility on a 77.57-acre site. The development is structured in two phases: Phase One includes the construction of a 424,000 square foot warehouse and the vacation and relocation of Marine Road, while Phase Two consists of two building extensions totaling 119,900 square feet. The facility will initially utilize semi-trucks for transport, eventually transitioning to rail via a new spur connecting to the Union Pacific line. The project also includes a variance to reduce required parking spaces and remove trash enclosure requirements. The San Bernardino County Planning Commission approved the project on November 20, 2025, following a comprehensive environmental review process under the California Environmental Quality Act. A Final Initial Study and Mitigated Negative Declaration were issued to address potential impacts on air quality, biological resources, and traffic. The project is subject to strict regulatory compliance, including Limited Industrial land use designations and coordination with agencies such as the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, CalRecycle, and the California Public Utilities Commission regarding rail crossings.
