The Yolo 80 Corridor Improvements Project, managed by Caltrans District 3 in West Sacramento, California, involves the installation of critical signage and tolling infrastructure along Interstate 80 within the Yolo Causeway corridor. Under Permit No. 20085 and in accordance with California Code of Regulations, the project includes the installation of ten fiber optic conduits using PVC Schedule 80 pipes, which will be surface-mounted to existing barriers or buried up to three feet deep, with transverse crossings completed via directional drilling. Additionally, the project entails the installation of one toll reader and two overhead sign structures. One sign structure will be supported by a 60-inch diameter cast in drilled hole pile foundation within a median barrier, while another existing structure near the Unit No. 02 East Levee will be replaced with a new eastbound truss structure supported by two large diameter piles. The Central Valley Flood Protection Board approved the project on September 25, 2026, following a determination that the work will not have a significant environmental effect within the Board's permitting jurisdiction. This determination was supported by an Environmental Impact Report prepared by the lead agency, and no additional mitigation or monitoring plans were required. The project is categorized as a forecast and is coordinated through key personnel at Caltrans and the Central Valley Flood Protection Board to ensure compliance with flood control plans and environmental standards.
