Z--Vicinity of Nassau Sound & Sawpit Creek, Nassau & Duval Counties, Florida, Maintenance Dredging, 12-Foot Project, Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway between Norfollk, Virginia and St. Johns River, Florida

The project area is located on the northeast coast of Florida in Nassau and Duval Counties. The project work consists of removing shoals along the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW) in the vicinity of Nassau Sound and Sawpit Creek, Cuts 11 throug h 27A. A depth of 12 feet MLW will be required with an allowable overdepth of one foot. Beach quality sand will be placed on the South Amelia Island Beach approximately 2.2 miles southeast of Cut 27A and the remaining, non beach quality material will be placed in the Dredge Material Management Area, DU-2 (South Black Hammock Island) approximately 1.7 miles southwest of Cut 27A. The maximum pumping distance for this contract is estimated to be approximately 5 miles for both the upland and beach placement areas. The project will consist of Base and Option Bid Items as follows: (1) the Base Bid includes dredging an estimated 312,000 cubic yards from Cut-19 through Cut-27A; (2) Option 1 includes dredging an estimated 67,000 cubic yards from Cut-11 and part of Cut-12; and (3) Option 2 includes dredging an estimated 65,000 cubic yards from remainder of Cut-12 through part of Cut-19. This solicitation will be issued on or about 20 December 2005 and open on or about 19 January 2006. MAGNITUDE OF CONSTRUCTION is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00.
