Z -- HAMILTON ROAD PROJECT

The project involves the restoration of a 165-foot section of Hamilton Creek in Shoshone County, Idaho, by constructing a new creek channel and instream structures, as well as filling and recontouring the existing channel. It includes installing a new metal plate arch at the crossing of Hamilton Creek and Road 534. Additionally, the work covers constructing a new 0.74-mile route for Road 436 branching off Road 534, building a 0.10-mile junction along Road 534 for Roads 436 and 534, and obliterating the old Road 436 route. The project also entails adding a 30-inch diameter culvert at the crossing of Road 436 and the roadside ditch along Road 534, placing crushed aggregate on the new section of Road 436, building an armored rolling dip with Class II riprap on Road 436, and protecting the metal plate arch on Road 534 with Class V riprap. The areas disturbed by construction, including cut slopes, fill slopes, and recontoured road sections, will be seeded to promote vegetation restoration. The contract, titled "Z -- HAMILTON ROAD PROJECT," was issued by the USDA Forest Service under solicitation number RFP-R1-04-02-88 and was posted on June 27, 2002. It is managed by the Coeur d'Alene River Ranger District within the Idaho Panhandle National Forests office. The project budget is estimated to be between $100,000 and $250,000 with an expected completion date of October 15, 2003. The scope emphasizes ecological restoration alongside road reconstruction and stabilization efforts, reflecting the agency’s goals of maintaining infrastructure while enhancing the local watershed conditions.
