AI Contract Overview

The government intends to award a sole source contract to Yager Materials for the hull repair of the MV Hodges LD761 workboat at Newburgh Lock and Dam, Newburgh, Indiana. This decision is based on the fact that Yager Marine is the only qualified and willing company in the immediate Newburgh area capable of performing the necessary repairs. Using a company outside this vicinity would increase costs due to transportation and complicate necessary inspections during the repair process. Yager Materials is located just 24 miles from Newburgh Locks, making it the most practical choice for timely and cost-effective service. While the procurement is limited to this sole source, the agency invites all responsible parties to submit capability statements, proposals, or quotations by 11:00 AM EST on June 13, 2014, for consideration. The solicitation, identified as W912QR41607888 under NAICS code 336611, is managed by the Department of Defense's W072 Endist Louisville office in Kentucky. The work location and logistical details emphasize the need for proximity and capability to ensure the efficient maintenance of the workboat critical to operations at the Newburgh Lock and Dam.

Notification of Sole Source Procurement: In accordance with 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1) the Government intends to limit sources to Yager Materials for the Hull Repair of the MV Hodges LD761 Workboat at Newburgh Lock and Dam, Newburgh, IN. This is due to the fact that Yager Marine is the only company within the immediate area of Newburgh, IN that was qualified and willing to do the repairs needed. In addition to the cost of repairs; transporting the work boat to locations outside of this area would add to the overall cost. Yager Materials is located 24 miles from Newburgh Locks and is the closest qualified company willing to perform the services, which is important due to the needed inspection as repairs are completed. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered by the agency. A capability statement, proposal or quotation must be submitted no later than 11:00 AM EST Friday, 13 June 2014 to contact@example.gov.
