The General Services Administration (GSA) Northeast Caribbean Region is organizing a Small Business Networking Session on February 22, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. in New York City to support the Infrastructure Upgrade project of the Thurgood Marshall U.S. Courthouse at 40 Centre Street. This session aims to connect small businesses, including Small, Small-Disadvantaged, Women-Owned, HUBZone, Veteran-Owned, and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned firms, with representatives from GSA, the Small Business Administration, and two general contractors currently under consideration for the project. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the scope of work, network, and potentially position themselves for subcontracting opportunities. Large business subcontractors planning to bid on first-tier contracts exceeding $1 million must subcontract portions of the work to eligible small businesses, making this session a critical networking event for all involved. The project involves comprehensive upgrades and repairs across various building systems and features, including fire protection, electrical power distribution, emergency power, HVAC, plumbing, elevators, public restrooms, telecommunications, security systems, roofing, masonry, hazardous material removal, and interior renovations aligned with historic preservation standards. The selected general contractor will be awarded the contract around July 2006. Interested firms are encouraged to contact Claudia Rivera or Joan Ryan at GSA to confirm attendance, provide firm details, and indicate small business classification or subcontracting capacity. This session serves as an essential platform for small businesses to engage with key project stakeholders and secure potential subcontracting work on a significant federal courthouse modernization project.
