Zygo Purchase

The NASA Shared Services Center is pursuing a sole source procurement under FAR 12.102(a) to award a contract to Zygo Corporation for the upgrade of an existing NewView 6000 series optical profiler to the NewView 9000 series. This upgrade is critical for improving metrology capabilities used to measure micrometeoroid impacts, which directly informs the architecture of the Habitable Worlds Observatory. The government has determined that Zygo Corporation is the only authorized provider capable of performing this work due to their proprietary knowledge of the control systems and the need to mitigate technical risks associated with system incompatibility. The scope of work includes the procurement of a NewView 9000 series optical head, electronics, staging, a Core Ultra i7 System Controller with 32 GB DDR5 SDRAM, a 5-axis motorized system, and various specialized lenses and turrets. Additionally, the contract covers 16 hours of on-site installation labor at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, and requires a Certificate of Calibration utilizing ISO-17025 traceability. The estimated lead time for delivery is 8 to 10 weeks after receipt of order, with an additional 3 to 4 weeks for installation. This acquisition is conducted as a commercial item procurement under FAR Part 12 and includes the NASA FAR Supplement Clause 1852.215-84 regarding the Ombudsman.
