Systemwide 50 TBS Capacity Upgrade

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is seeking bids for a project to supply and install upgraded traction power equipment at 50 Tie-Breaker Stations (TBS) across its system. The contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, materials, equipment, quality assurance/control, construction management, environmental and safety supervision, and field engineering services necessary for the project. This includes coordinating with jurisdictional authorities and utilities, securing permits and easements not provided by WMATA, performing architectural and engineering duties, submitting required documentation, supporting field engineering, implementing a quality management system, and delivering operation and maintenance training and manuals for the installed systems. WMATA plans to conduct a Pre-Bid Conference and Site Visit to clarify bid documents and answer questions, with attendance limited to two representatives per contractor and requiring prior submission of participant information and completion of Right-of-Way training. The site visits will include a scheduled night inspection of five typical TBS locations, with this being the sole opportunity for such a visit. Contractors are encouraged to thoroughly investigate site conditions as they will be bound by all contract terms regardless of conference attendance. Interested bidders must register on the WMATA website, and designated contacts for inquiries are Michael D. Glimp and William J. Geroux. The solicitation is identified as FQ15003 and is categorized under NAICS code 237130, with the work to be performed in Washington, DC.
