Hi everyone! We've rebuilt how the Contract Search page loads: 92% less data sent to your browser, with the search bar, filters, and sort there the moment it opens. To be clear about what changed: this is the page opening faster, not the search running faster.
What's New
The Contract Search page used to hand your browser the entire Agency and NAICS Codes option lists on every load, even though most sessions never open those filter cards. Those lists now load only when you ask for them, so the page arrives ready instead of assembling itself after it reaches you.
How It Works
- Open Contract Search and the search bar, quick filters, sort, and filter rail are there right away
- The results list still fills in when your query comes back, at the same speed as before
- Open the Agency filter and start typing: matches come back from the full agency list, with a count showing how many options are behind your search
- Open NAICS Codes and the list loads on the spot, then narrows as you type
- If a lookup ever fails, you get a "Try again" control instead of an empty list
Why It Matters
Measured against production data, the page dropped from 491 KB to 39 KB, and about a third of what your browser was drawing was a second copy of the page it never showed you. Contract Search now opens in a fraction of the time instead of parking you behind a full-page loading screen, and searching itself is untouched: same filters, same results, same saved queries, same speed.
