What does Procurement do?

WeGo Public Transit, based in Nashville, Tennessee, is dedicated to enhancing the efficiency, safety, and accessibility of public transportation infrastructure across the region. Its core mission centers on modernizing transit facilities and operational systems to support sustainable urban mobility, with a strategic emphasis on improving passenger experience through well-maintained transit stops, reliable service environments, and data-driven operational assessments. Key priorities include the procurement of durable, transit-specific infrastructure components, the evaluation of internal procurement processes to ensure accountability and efficiency, and the strategic management of real estate assets that support transit hubs and operational needs. The agency’s procurement patterns reflect a focus on specialized, non-standardized goods and services critical to transit operations. It frequently solicits fabricated metal products for bus shelters and benches, real estate leasing arrangements for transit-related facilities, and professional consulting services to assess and refine internal micro-procurement workflows. Contracts are typically issued as open solicitations without set-asides, indicating a preference for competitive, performance-based vendor selection grounded in technical capability rather than demographic criteria. Primary procurement activity aligns with NAICS 332999 for custom fabricated metal transit infrastructure, 531190 for real estate leasing related to transit stations, and 541211 for independent financial and process assessment services. The agency maintains a vendor-neutral approach, engaging firms based on technical merit and alignment with operational requirements. There is no indication of formal diversity or small business set-aside preferences in its contracting practices. WeGo Public Transit operates under the broader governance of the Tennessee state transportation framework, serving the Nashville metropolitan area with a decentralized operational structure. It utilizes standard federal and state procurement vehicles, including requests for information and competitive solicitations, to acquire mission-critical goods and services that directly support public transit delivery.
