The Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) intends to award a sole source fixed price indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract with a ceiling of $9.5 million to Exponent. This contract covers the procurement of spare parts, components, robotic systems, and replacement MARCbot robotic systems, which are actively used in contingency operations in Iraq and Afghanistan through May of fiscal year 2007. The MARCbot systems are critical in supporting overseas contingency operations, and Exponent is currently the only supplier capable of providing the necessary support and sustainment without unacceptable delays during this period. While a future competitive procurement source is being considered, this sole source award is necessary to fulfill ongoing requirements that may arise during the transition to a new supplier. The contract involves equipment categorized under NAICS code 334511 and is managed by the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division under the Department of Defense, with the office located in Orlando, Florida. The designated point of contact for the contract is Contract Specialist Dana D Graham. No responses to this announcement are requested or required.

Full Description

The Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) has a requirement to procure spare parts/components, robotic systems, and replacement robotic systems for MARCbot robotic systems currently being used in contingency operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is to announce PEO STRI's intent to award a non-competitive sole source FFP Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a set ceiling of $9.5 mil with Exponent for fulfillment of this (MARCbot) requirement through May FY 07. MARCbot robotic systems are currently being utilized in direct support of contingency operations OCONUS. Currently a second source competition is being contemplated and there is a need to cover requirements that arise during the competition process. Exponent is the only known company capable of providing the required support and sustainment capability for these fielded robotic systems during this period without intolerable delays. A response to this synopsis is not required.
