AI Contract Overview

The contract invites bids for a government surplus inventory of KC-135 aircraft parts located at Pemco Aeroplex, Inc. in Birmingham, Alabama. The entire inventory is offered as a single lot on an "as is, where is" basis, with all items described as unused. However, neither Pemco nor the Department of Defense guarantees the operability or airworthiness of the parts. Buyers should note that these parts are not approved for use on commercial aircraft without specific FAA authorization and cannot be resold to the DoD or foreign governments without proper documentation. The parts may not meet FAA design standards, so inspections and approvals are necessary before they can be installed on civil aircraft. Transportation and removal of the purchased items are the buyer's responsibility and at their expense. Payment must be made within five days of award via cashier’s check or money order payable to the Treasurer of the United States. Bidders listed on the government's procurement exclusion list are ineligible for awards. All bids must be submitted on the provided bid form to Pemco Aeroplex by the specified deadline of November 11, 2004. The successful bidder assumes full responsibility for any damage or injury related to inspection and removal of the inventory and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Pemco Aeroplex and its personnel from any claims. In addition, the purchaser must maintain liability and property damage insurance, including coverage for any designated carriers handling the property. Questions may be directed to the plant clearance officers listed by the Department of Defense agency overseeing this contract.
