The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) plans to acquire approximately 54 Tactical Aircraft Moving Map Capability (TAMMAC) Digital Map Computers (DMC) with Housing Extensions and 11 DM-200 Map systems, along with engineering investigations, evaluations, and studies related to the TAMMAC system. The contract will be awarded on a sole source, negotiated basis to Harris Corporation’s Government Aerospace Systems Division, located in Melbourne, FL, who is the sole designer, developer, and supplier of the required equipment and possesses the necessary technical data. The initial contract includes a base award with options for additional units, potentially providing up to 62 more DMC systems with Housing Extensions and 16 more DM-200 Map systems. These systems are intended for installation in several types of military aircraft including the F/A-18C/D and F/A-18E/F, AH-1Z, UH-1Y, AV-8B, MH-60S, and CH-47F helicopters. The contract is expected to be awarded by May 2002, with deliveries commencing in April 2003 on a FOB destination basis to the respective aircraft manufacturers. The production process demands a significant initial investment or a lengthy preparation period due to the technical complexity and integration requirements. Harris Corporation is uniquely positioned as the exclusive source capable of fulfilling the government’s requirements for these production installations, ensuring compatibility and technical compliance with the specified military aircraft platforms. This procurement also encompasses related engineering assessments to support the TAMMAC system’s operational effectiveness and future enhancements.
