The 2016 Department of Defense Mentor-Protégé Training Week is a specialized event hosted by the DoD Office of Small Business Programs, held at the Sheraton Atlanta from May 31 to June 3, 2016. This initiative is designed to enhance collaboration between industry, academia, and DoD mission partners to boost small business participation in defense and intelligence procurements. The event offers workshops and forums to share best practices and address challenges in the administration and management of the Mentor-Protégé Program, which supports development and technical enhancement of small businesses by prime defense contractors. This program, originally established by law in 1990 and reauthorized through 2018, celebrates its 25th anniversary and continues to promote mentor-protégé partnerships that strengthen the defense industrial base. The agenda includes keynote addresses by senior government officials, panel discussions featuring aerospace and defense industry experts, updates on program policies, and tailored matchmaking sessions where small businesses can connect with larger companies, procurement representatives, and academic institutions. Additionally, the event features the annual DoD Nunn-Perry Awards, recognizing top-performing Mentor-Protégé teams for fiscal year 2015. Key presenters include senior executives and commanders within the DoD, and registration details provided specify deadlines for event participation and matchmaking activities. Primary contacts for the event and program management are Ms. Pam Wallace and Mr. Robert S. Stewart, Jr., both providing support and information related to the training week and Mentor-Protégé activities.
