Mendocino County plans to rehabilitate several county road segments in the Caspar area during summer 2026 under the 2026 Corrective Maintenance initiative, focusing on restoring the road base and surface to improve pavement condition and extend lifespan. The work will involve full depth reclamation across multiple sections where terrain permits, while other areas will receive layered asphalt or equivalent treatments based on site suitability. Resurfacing will be completed with a single chip seal on Comptche Ukiah Road, Point Cabrillo Road, Caspar Road, and Caspar Street, and a double chip seal on Caspar Little Lake Road, Fern Creek Road, and Caspar Orchard Road. All construction will occur within the existing right-of-way without removing trees or causing significant vegetation disturbance. Traffic will remain open during work with appropriate controls in place at each segment, and newly paved sections will include updated traffic striping and pavement markings to enhance safety for travelers. The project is designed to avoid impacts on cultural or biological resources and will benefit the general public by providing safer, more durable roadways.
