The contract for the 2026 Local Street Renewals involves comprehensive infrastructure work in designated areas including Greenlea Cove, Johnson Avenue E, and various other locations within District 2. The scope is divided into two parts: City Funded Work and Manitoba Hydro Funded Work. The City Funded portion encompasses asphalt reconstruction and pavement rehabilitation across multiple streets, involving detailed activities such as pavement removal, excavation, installation of sub-base materials, geotextile fabrics, curbs, sidewalks, catch basins, and boulevard restoration. This includes extensive works on Johnson Avenue E, Kent Road, Litz Place, Greenlea Cove, Manhattan Avenue, and Paufeld Drive. The work also covers water main and service insulation as part of water and wastewater components. The Manitoba Hydro Funded Work primarily focuses on street lighting renewal along Kent Road and Litz Place. However, this part of the project is contingent on funding approval from the Province of Manitoba, which is anticipated by late May. If funding is not approved, the City retains the right to reduce or eliminate these components, resulting in a proportional adjustment to the contract price and schedule. The contract outlines specific construction details and performance requirements including the types and thicknesses of asphalt overlays, concrete work, and adjustments to existing infrastructure. Bidding documents are accessible through Merx, with a submission deadline set for March 24, 2026. The City of Winnipeg is the contracting authority, with contact details provided for inquiries.
