The 2026 Lodging Tax RFP issued by the City of Port Angeles invites applications for funding to support tourism-related activities, facilities, and marketing efforts within Washington State. The application process is open until October 12, 2025, and all applicants must complete a comprehensive online form, which requires prior review of the relevant work plan, procedures, and training materials. Applicants are advised to prepare their responses in advance due to the system's inability to save progress mid-way and must adhere to a 300-word limit for open-ended questions. The process involves submitting a single application per organization, with a second submission only necessary if requesting both operational and capital funding, and the application must be accompanied by supporting documents. Funding awards range from $100,000 to $500,000, and the application must be submitted electronically through the city’s designated portal. The funding is governed by Washington State laws, specifically RCW 67.28, which stipulates that lodging tax revenues can be used for tourism marketing, supporting tourism-related facilities, and promoting special events that attract visitors. Eligible recipients include municipalities, nonprofit organizations, and tourism-related facilities, with a focus on activities that increase tourism and support the local economy. The contract emphasizes compliance with state regulations, detailed reporting requirements, and the importance of aligning projects with the purpose of tourism promotion and facility support. Applicants seeking funding should review the detailed legal framework and ensure their proposals meet the criteria outlined in the application guidelines and work plan.
