2286 Elevator Modernization - Bldg HA - Design Consulting Services

The contract calls for full design and construction administration services to modernize two passenger elevators in Building HA at the Perry Health Sciences Campus, which are gearless traction type elevators installed in 2012 and have experienced frequent repairs. One elevator serves five stops, and the other serves six stops. The scope includes an existing conditions analysis on a cost-benefit basis to determine the final scope of work, followed by evaluation and potential replacement or upgrade of the elevator equipment room, hoistway (including the gearless hoist machines), elevator cars, and elevator lobbies. The selected firm must be licensed to practice architecture and/or engineering in North Carolina and carry professional liability insurance, with coverage limits to be determined prior to award. The evaluation is weighted toward the proposed prime and sub-consultant team (38%), followed by proposed work methodologies including coordination, design philosophy, construction administration, HUB firm support, and project close-out (30%), with corporate profile accounting for 2%.
