This project involves the construction of a traditional breakpoint nutrient reduction wetland in Wright County, Iowa, with a focus on improving water quality through engineered wetland features. The scope includes selective clearing, excavation, grading, and earthwork totaling approximately 12,950 cubic yards, along with the installation of 932 square feet of steel sheet pile, 2,500 linear feet of tile drainage, 59 linear feet of drawdown pipe, 532 tons of riprap, 106 cubic yards of concrete grout, and 26.3 acres of seeding. A water control structure is also required as part of the system. The project is governed by detailed Plans and Construction Specifications prepared by Andrew Schippers, P.E. of Ducks Unlimited, which dictate design and construction standards. All work must be completed in accordance with these specifications and under the supervision of the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. The construction must begin no later than 14 days after the preconstruction meeting and is scheduled for completion by June 15, 2027. Seeding is divided into two phases: buffer seeding must be completed by June 30, 2027, and structure seeding by September 15, 2027, with both required to occur within the designated seasonal seeding window. The estimated cost of the project ranges from $450,000 to $550,000, and bids must be submitted electronically through the Iowa Management of Procurement and Contracts System (IMPACS) by 3:00 PM local time on July 16, 2026. Bidders are required to submit a bid bond equal to 10% of their bid amount and, if selected, provide a performance and payment bond equal to 100% of the contract value.
