2627-01 Marion Rd Sidewalk Extension

The Town of Cheshire is soliciting bids for the installation of sidewalks along Marion Road to connect the Blackberry Woods Residential Development to Balsam Place, designated as Project 2627-01. The work is divided into two base bids: Base Bid A covers the segment between Balsam Place and Blackberry Place, and Base Bid B covers the segment between Blackberry Place and Memory Lane, with an alternate total bid available for concurrent performance of both segments. All work must comply with the project design plans dated July 20, 2026, prepared by J.R. Russo & Associates, LLC, and adhere strictly to the CTDOT Standard Specifications for Roads, Bridges and Incidental Construction, Form 819 (2024), as amended, along with the Town of Cheshire’s Guidelines and Specifications for Public Improvements dated December 12, 2023. The scope includes demolition, tree removal, erosion control, earth excavation, filling, grading, drainage and utility repairs, concrete work, paving, wall installation, and revegetation of disturbed areas. Bids must be submitted in sealed envelopes with one original, one copy, and one electronic copy on USB drive to the Cheshire Town Hall by 11:00 AM on August 20, 2026; submissions via email or fax are prohibited. Each bid must include a 5% bid bond, and the successful bidder must provide both a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond, each issued by a Connecticut-licensed T List surety with an “A-” VIII or better rating, with costs included in the bid price. All contractors must comply with Connecticut’s Prevailing Wage Law, OSHA requirements, Executive Orders No. 3, 7C, and 14, and the EPA’s Section 6002 recovered materials guidelines. Bidders must submit certifications on equal employment opportunity, non-collusion, legal status, references, and contact information, and must demonstrate experience, qualifications, and past performance. The award will be based on best value, considering not only price but also responsiveness, qualifications, references, service, and ability to respond promptly. Payment will be made upon submission of a Town Engineer-approved Application for Payment, with payments processed within 30 days after approval if received by the 25th of the month.
