The Department of Veterans Affairs, James A. Haley Veteran's Hospital in Tampa, Florida, intends to award a sole source contract to Autovalet Systems LLC for the upgrade of three installed Autovalet MK 7 machines to the new MK 8 standards. These automated uniform distribution systems are crucial for securely storing, issuing, and tracking uniforms used by hospital staff. The upgrade is expected to deliver over 30% cost savings compared to purchasing new units, extending the life of the current systems while improving reliability, ease of service, and reducing maintenance needs. Additionally, the upgrade installation will be completed more quickly than replacing the machines entirely, reducing downtime for the hospital. This contract action will be conducted under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, allowing the Government to negotiate directly with the single source. Although this is not a request for competitive proposals, interested parties may express their interest and provide relevant information by the specified deadline. The Government will consider any information received by 2:00 p.m. EST on September 19, 2007, to decide whether to proceed with a competitive procurement. The procurement falls under NAICS code 333311, with a size standard of 500 employees.
