NASA/JSC intends to procure forty-one Radio Frequency Identification readers and associated peripherals from A.C.C Systems Inc. to serve as the Next Generation RFID and Barcode Reader for the International Space Station. These devices must meet rigorous spaceflight standards, including the ability to pass zero-gravity testing and withstand a total radiation dose of 600 RAD to ensure an on-orbit operational lifetime of ten years. The equipment is critical for integration into Progress Vehicle 42P, requiring a delivery date of December 2, 2010. To ensure system consistency and reliability, the contract mandates that all units be manufactured in a single homogeneous production run using component parts from unique or single lot sources. All delivered hardware must feature identical board revisions, part numbers, BIOS, and firmware versions, with printed circuit boards complying with IPC 6011 and 6012 Class 2 standards. The government is pursuing this acquisition as a commercial item under FAR Part 12, with A.C.C Systems Inc. identified as the sole provider capable of meeting these specific technical and scheduling requirements.
