The Bureau of Reclamation's Boulder City Regional Office in Nevada plans to award a sole source purchase order to Desert Specialty Rigging of Las Vegas for fall protection equipment to be used at Hoover Dam. The equipment must be compatible with existing personal fall arrest systems already installed by this contractor, a critical requirement to ensure interchangeability and effective employee training on safe system use. Over $200,000 has been invested in these safety climbing systems, and any deviation from the current designs would incur significant costs to maintain compatibility. The contract emphasizes the need for properly trained and competent personnel to use and maintain the fall protection systems, with qualified individuals required to design, install, and supervise the horizontal lifelines to maintain a safety factor of at least two. The procurement is to be executed using Simplified Acquisition procedures, with an anticipated award date of December 29, 2003. Interested and responsible sources may submit quotes, which will be considered by the agency. Submissions must demonstrate the contractor's capability to fulfill the requirements and are due by December 23, 2003, at 4:00 p.m. PST. Quotes can be sent via email or facsimile to the designated contact, Beverly Nelson, at the Bureau of Reclamation. This procurement ensures continuity and safety in the fall protection systems at Hoover Dam while minimizing additional costs linked to system compatibility.
