Metro requests bids for St. Johns Landfill Bridge Repair. This is Step One of a Two Step Invitation to Bid process (ITB). Step One is a prequalification step for one project. Only those Bidders who prequalify will be able to participate in Step Two. Metro will consider price bids in Step Two.
The St. John’s Landfill Bridge (“SJL Bridge”), located in North Landfill Rd., provides access across the Columbia Slough to the St. John’s Landfill (“SJL” or “Landfill”) and is privately owned by Metro. The Landfill is a piece of land surrounded by water on all sides. The existing bridge was constructed in 1957 and serves as a replacement for the original Incinerator Rd. Bridge which was built in 1938. Metro is assessing and repairing the bridge according to federal and state standards. The maintenance and repairs will increase the current capacity of the bridge to support a single 17-ton vehicle crossing the bridge and restore vehicular access for maintenance and operational needs for utility and landfill infrastructure.
