The Department of Defense's 6th Contracting Squadron plans to award a sole source contract to Winfield Locks, Inc. for the procurement of SAFLOK System 6000 and related mechanical key override locks for MacDill Air Force Base Lodging. The contract includes one SAFLOK System 6000 encoder and a total of 216 mechanical key override locks—98 left-handed and 118 right-handed. Winfield Locks is identified as the only responsible source able to supply these specific parts due to the proprietary nature of the SAFLOK system originally installed and expanded at the facility. The locks are essential to maintain operational integrity, providing a weatherproof replacement option with key override capabilities in case of emergencies or encoder failure. The decision to award this contract sole source follows market research confirming no other supplier can meet the unique compatibility requirements with the existing SAFLOK lock mechanisms. This system was last expanded in 2003, and the new purchase ensures continued functionality and service reliability. If no objections or responses are received by 4:00 PM EST on September 13, 2007, the award will proceed with Winfield Locks, Inc. The contract specialist overseeing this acquisition is SSgt Sovanna Tanner, available for inquiries. The procurement is associated with NAICS code 561622 and is managed by the office located in Tampa, Florida.
