The U.S. Government is seeking sources capable of providing a family of tactical Very High Frequency (VHF) radios and related services, including ancillaries, installation kits, spare parts, training, on-site support, and maintenance. These radios must be interoperable with the ITT Export Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS) series, specifically supporting ITT's proprietary encryption and frequency hopping algorithms, which vary by country. This interoperability is critical as these radios are widely used by various armed forces internationally. The contract will be structured as an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) agreement with a ceiling of $78.5 million, and initial product deliveries are expected within 75 days after orders are placed. Interested vendors must demonstrate documented capability to manufacture and deliver these interoperable VHF radios by the response deadline of August 20, 2009. The Department of Defense office managing this effort is based at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. The objective is to establish a reliable source for these sophisticated communication systems that meet stringent technical requirements and can support diverse operational needs globally.
