The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 3, located in Bloomington, MN, plans to award a sole source, firm fixed-price purchase order to Amirix Systems Inc. of Bedford, NS, under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and FAR Part 13 procedures. This acquisition supports a multi-agency project aimed at tracking the movement of Asian Carp and other priority species within Midwestern waterways using ultrasonic telemetry technology. The project utilizes acoustic coded tags implanted in fish and relies on a network of fixed and mobile acoustic monitoring receivers operating at a 69 kHz frequency. Since the existing system is based on this specific frequency and technology, continuous compatibility is critical to maintain operational continuity across collaborating federal and state agencies. Amirix Systems Inc., operating as VEMCO, is the sole manufacturer of both the 69 kHz acoustic coded tags and monitoring receivers required for full system compatibility, making them uniquely qualified to fulfill this requirement. The contract falls under NAICS code 334511 with a size standard of 1,250 employees. Although this notice is not a solicitation for competitive bids, interested firms with the necessary capabilities were invited to respond by June 13, 2016, but the government reserves full discretion regarding competition. The overall intent is to sustain a cohesive tracking infrastructure essential for ecological research and management of invasive and priority fish species across the region.

This requirement is for the use of ultrasonic telemetry used to track movement of Asian Carp and priority species throughout the water of the Midwest.
