The VA Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa intends to negotiate a commercial (FAR Part 12) sole source contract with The Blood Center of Iowa, under authority of FAR 6.302-1. A justification for other than full and open competition has been prepared in support of this acquisition. This procurement is for blood, blood products and testing to be supplied on a routine and emergent basis. This FBO announcement is being placed to satisfy requirements in FAR 5.201. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals.
