The Department of Veterans Affairs, through its Veterans Integrated Service Network 3 and the James J. Peters VA Medical Center, plans to award a sole source contract to FAXITRON BIOPTICS LLC for the procurement of one BioVision+ Digital Surgical Biopsy Specimen Imaging System. The system will be delivered to the Brooklyn VA Medical Center’s Women’s Clinic and is intended to enhance surgical excision and core biopsy procedures by providing high-resolution digital imaging for breast tissue margin verification. This contract will be firm-fixed price and is awarded under the authority allowing sole source procurement when only one responsible source exists to meet the agency’s needs. The BioVision+ system includes advanced features such as a high-resolution digital detector, automatic exposure control, automatic calibration, and DICOM compatibility for seamless integration with existing medical imaging systems. It offers significant image enhancement capabilities, including magnification and calcification enhancement, facilitating precise diagnostic imaging during surgical procedures. The system also comes with a one-year manufacturer warranty and additional specifications like ergonomic controls and a battery backup feature, ensuring reliable performance in a clinical environment. The VA has invited interested parties to submit capabilities statements by a specified deadline to demonstrate their ability to meet the requirements, though the government reserves the right to proceed with the sole source award if no acceptable responses are received.
