The Department of Veterans Affairs plans to enter into a sole source contract with Boston Scientific to procure Spinal Cord Stimulators specifically for the Veterans Ambulatory Care Center in Columbus, Ohio. The agency has determined that Boston Scientific is the only responsible source capable of meeting its unique requirements, particularly for stimulators featuring individual power sources per contact and an advanced 3-D programming algorithm. This procurement will follow the Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302, which allows for non-competitive contracting when only one vendor can fulfill the agency’s needs. This notice serves as an announcement of intent rather than a solicitation, with no competitive quotes requested. However, other firms that believe they can meet the specified requirements are invited to submit written evidence within four calendar days to the Contracting Officer at the Columbus VA Ambulatory Care Center. Although the Government will evaluate any submissions, the decision to proceed without competition rests solely with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Absent any qualifying responses, negotiations will continue exclusively with Boston Scientific.
